How long does it take to set-up?

Incredibly, this year, we set up everything in just 3 very dedicated days! At this point, we have it all down to a science. We have a notebook we designed that reminds us what color of strands go where, how many strands go where, etc. Also, everything now has labels and this helps tremendously. It's all in extreme organization that makes our lives easier.

How many bulbs are there?

 In total, we are currently running approx 36,000+ bulbs with about 9,100 of those being RGB smart pixels.

There are around 106 Master Props, with approx 22,110 RGB channels running through 3 network cables. Illuminating all our lights are 2 AC controllers and 9 RGB controllers.

How long does programming take?

The programming alone has taken around 400+ hours using Light O Rama software over the course of 6 years.

 Why do I see the show run before the start date and at odd times?

Just like any other show, we have to do trial runs. Glitches do happen and we want to make sure things are running properly before we open to the public. We also do private showings with custom shows for nursing homes, retirement homes, assisted living facilities, homes for people with disabilities and, of course, for our friends and family. Where is the best place to park?

Anywhere in the yard is a good viewing spot, but the farther back you park, the better the overall experience. Think of it like a movie theater, the front row isn’t the best seat.

Parking farther back lets you take in the entire display at once, making it easier to see the timing, movement, and different musical beats across the whole show. We’ve also tucked in lots of what we like to call “Easter eggs”- small, intentional details designed to make you laugh or stop and say wow. Those little moments are easier to catch when you can see the full picture. If you have a taller vehicle, try coming in that as it is likely people will park in front of you.

How much is the electric bill?

Not as bad as you might think. It typically only goes up around $75+/-.  The lights flicker on and off to the music and are only ran for around a couple hours a night, plus they are all LED's.

Help! I can't get my running lights to turn off.

On newer vehicles, sometimes what will work to get the lights to turn off is-

once in park, engage the parking brake, toggle your automatic lights to off, turn off the vehicle and turn the vehicle back on. 

​

Why is the music out of sync with the lights?

Some car radios will buffer the music before they play.  When that happens, the music will be out of sync. Unfortunately, there is no fix for this.

How long have you been doing this?

Since 2020. With the pandemic going on and so many events canceled, we wanted to offer something for the community to do that would be safe and bring in the holiday spirit. This was just something we had always talked about doing and the pandemic lit a fire within us to bring our vision to life.

Why doesn't the show run continuously?

While we would love to run our show continuously, our driveway does not allow for safe simultaneous incoming and outgoing traffic. Our- 30-minute on, 30 minute off- schedule helps keep traffic flowing smoothly and ensures the best experience for everyone visiting. 

 

While we have more than two hours of programmed songs, we carefully select songs each season to create a high-quality, enjoyable 30-minute show. Rotating shorter shows keeps in mind young ones' shorter attention spans, and keeps things predictable, simple and easy to follow for visitors.​
